Ms. Byers received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Western Piedmont Community College in 1999 and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University in 2001. Kristi has been a nurse working in the pediatric field for 19 years. Prior to her employment at FIPP, she spent the majority of her career working in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) setting, maternal-child, and high-risk case management. Ms. Byers received her Infant-Toddler Family Specialist credential in 2010, which allows her to provide supports to children and families enrolled in the North Carolina Infant Toddler program. In 2015, Ms. Byers received her national certification in case management. Ms. Byers’ professional interests include working with children and families recently discharged from the NICU, toxic stress and its effects, and contributing to the development of web-based learning modules to support practitioners in the field working with infants from birth to six months of age and their families.
